Shortly after his jam-packed Zumba event last year in Doha, the ‘King of Filipino Zumba’ Wowie de Guzman, visited Qatar once again for another electrifying Zumba party dubbed as ‘Zumba for Love Qatar’, last Friday at the University of Doha for Science and Technology.

Zin Wowie together with Zayaw Q8 International, in collaboration with JHC and Filipino Fitness & Health in Qatar (FFHQ), took center stage at the 3-hour Zumbathon that was flocked by hundreds of Zumbanatics in the Filipino and other expat communities in the Gulf state.

New Year Fitness Goal

A day before the event, the PurpleLine Beauty Salon, one of the major sponsors, hosted a media conference at its outlet in New Salata.

“This is my second time in Qatar. It feels so great because the weather is cold here now. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to come back here as I really enjoy the experience. This is one of my most favorite countries to visit and perform Zumba for our Kababayans,” said the celebrity guest.

According to the Philippine 90’s matinee idol and award-winning actor, whenever he visits Qatar, he is advocating health and wellness to his fellowmen. “This is very timely since we just celebrated the holidays and welcomed the New Year, so we need to get back in shape or burn calories,” he noted.

On her part, the PurpleLine Beauty Salon’s CEO May Cepe Ortega, said that her business, which she and her team describe as a ‘Salon for the Mass’, has been actively supporting Filipino events especially when they are promoting health and fitness.

Apart from being a businesswoman, Ortega is a Zumba, gym and boxing enthusiast. She also encouraged everyone to support local businesses and Filipino entrepreneurs.

Zumba for Love Qatar

The Zumba for Love Qatar event is not just about fitness. It is a celebration of unity, joy, and the Filipinos’ love for Zumba.

One of the event organisers, Rave Ronquillo, officially kicked-off the programme with his opening remarks. It was followed by an inspirational message bythe Philippine Embassy in Qatar’s Third Secretary and Vice Consul Monica Remsy Calangian.

A series of Zumba sessions spearheaded by local Zumba instructors continued. Raffle prizes were also given away to the lucky winners who purchased tickets to the event. The awarding of Zumba King and Queen and certificate of appreciation to the event sponsors also took place.

Maricel Angel, an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Qatar and a former Zumba Queen awardee in a previous Zumba activity with Wowie, shared her experience from this event. ”I love Zumba because it’s good for our health and it’s for all ages,” she enthused. ”I will never get tired of doing Zumba. Zumba is fun. It helps to maintain our overall health. It’s a full-body workout that helps us de-stress from our daily work-life routine,” Angel said.

Rose Sinan from AIM 101 Broadcast Kuwait traveled with her team to bring Wowie back to Qatar for this initiative. Marvin of Music Lounge Training Center, Elle Hansen and Zin Honey also led the entire event production. Fans also got a chance to meet and greet Zin Wowie yesterday at the City Hypermarket in Salwa Road.

Pinoy Zumba

As a Filipino celebrity connected to the community through Zumba, Zin Wowie admits that this form of dance exercise is his top secret to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. ”Many Filipinos including those who are aged 50 to 90 years old are extremely hooked on Zumba. If you do Zumba regularly, it will boost your cardio endurance and immune system,” the Zumba King stressed.
