Committee to deal with domestic workers' hiring

A committee comprising representatives from the Ministry of Interior (MoI), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA), Qatar Chamber and recruitment offices is to be formed to deal with recruitment of domestic workers.
The committee will be responsible for the framing of regulations for the classification of recruitment offices, working out mechanisms to speed up the recruitment process, reduce the cost of recruiting and increase the probation period.
The decision to set up the committee was taken at a meeting held on the directives of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al Thani to provide excellent services to citizens and residents.
In a press release, MADLSA said the meeting discussed the issues raised by some citizens through the media and social media about the delay in the recruitment of domestic workers by some recruitment offices, the rising cost of recruitment and short probation period.
The meeting was attended by the Minister for Administrative Development and Labour and Social Affairs, HE Issa bin Saad Al Naimi Juffali, HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al Thani, Chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, GDBPEA assistant director general Brigadier Mohamed Ahmed al Ateeq and owners of labour recruitment offices in the country.
