Traffic violations recorded in Qatar dropped by 44.1 percent in June 2020 as compared to the same month last year, according to latest figures released by the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA).
However, the traffic violations in June increased by 140.1 percent as compared to the previous month.
A total of 99, 457 traffic violations were recorded in June as against 41,421 in May. For June last year, the figure was 177,896.
As for violations, overspeeding accounted for the highest 61 percent.
Traffic accident cases recorded in June saw an 8.7 percent increase as compared to the previous month.
A total of 361 traffic cases were recorded in June as against 332 in the previous month.
As per the report, light injuries accounted for the vast majority of traffic accidents cases (89 percent), followed by severe injuries (9 percent). However, nine deaths were recorded, equivalent to only 2 percent of total traffic accident cases.
The total number of registered new vehicles during June has reached 3,898, a monthly increase of 107.6 percent and an annual decrease of 5 percent.
