COVID-19-free certificate from any government-accredited laboratory will be accepted for people in India to fly on Qatar Airways, the Doha-based carrier has announced.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has listed more than 600 laboratories that perform the real-time RT-PCR test, the TrueNat test, and the CBNAAT test for COVID-19 across the country.
A polymerase chain reaction (PCR) COVID-19 test is mandatory for passengers flying on Qatar Airways from 12 countries, including India.
Passengers flying from these countries will be required to present a negative COVID-19 test result issued within 72 hours prior to their flight departure.
On its web pagelisting approved laborataries across the world, Qatar Airways said, "Only RT-PCR tests results will be accepted from any of the ICMR approved list as per (the) link. Passengers to select “LIST OF COVID-19 TESTING GOVT & PVT LABS” link to review latest approved labs."
While Qatar has started to gradually reopen its borders to foreigners, it has not included India in its list of "low-risk" countries from where it said it would allow inbound flights.
However, Qatar has announced that Qatar residency cardholders abroad could apply for an exceptional entry permit to get into the country from August 1.
