In the implementation of the directives of His Highness the Amir of State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the first Qatari field hospital was inaugurated at Al Roum Hospital in Beirut on Tuesday.
The hospital opening was part of the medical aid and supplies provided by Qatar in support of Lebanon after the Beirut port blast.
In a speech, Ambassador of Qatar to Lebanon HE Mohammed Hassan Jaber Al Jaber offered condolences to the families of the blast victims and whished the wounded a speedy recovery.
The ambassador said the inauguration of the field hospital presented by Qatar came in implementation of the directives of HH The Amir to support of the Lebanese people after the port explosion.
He said the hospital is equipped with necessary medical equipment and includes 60 operating rooms and rooms for the injured and patients. The second field hospital in the Lebanese Hospital Geitaoui will soon be operational after its completion.
Besides Qatar’s ambassador, representative of the Lebanese Minister of Health in the caretaker government Dr Mohammed Hayder, representative of the Lebanese Army Commander General Elias Shamiya, Director-General of Al Roum Hospital Edgard Joujou, the Qatari logistical and medical delegation that constructed of the hospital, and several diplomats attended the inauguration.
The representative of the Lebanese Minister of Health thanked Qatar for its standing and constant support for Lebanon.
The representative of the Lebanese Armed Forces Commander also praised the efforts of Qatar and its generous contribution in overcoming the human tragedy that afflicted Lebanon. He appreciated the work of the Qatari medical and logistical team that completed equipping the hospital at a record speed with full preparation and equipment.
Director-General of Al Roum Hospital praised the equipment available inside the field hospital and gave a detailed explanation about the hospital and its departments, which include several operating rooms, emergency rooms for the injured, and a pharmacy.
