Search and rescue teams from Qatar have left for Beirut on the orders of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The teams will aid Lebanese officials in their response to the explosions that shook Beirut on Tuesday, killing more than a hundred people.
Qatar has already sent a planeload of medical supplies and two field hospitals to Beirut.
The aid is meant to help treat the people injured in the explosions that shook the Lebanese capital on Tuesday.
Three more aircraft will also depart on Wednesday to transport aid, which includes two fully-equipped field hospitals with 500 beds each and equipped with respirators and the necessary medical equipment and supplies.
The Qatar Red Crescent Society on Wednesday held an emergency meeting to establish a mechanism to send urgent and necessary aid to Beirut.
The meeting comes after Lebanese President Michel Aoun called on friendly countries to accelerate their assistance to his country, by providing support to hospitals and families, and to restore the damage left by the explosion that occurred in Beirut port.
