New quarantine policy comes into effect in Qatar

Starting August 1, the new quarantine policy for those entering Qatar has come into effect. Following these measures will keep the entire community safe and limit the spread of COVID-19, the Government Communications Office (GCO) has said.

Arrivals from low-risk countries
• Those returning will need to take a COVID-19 test upon arrival at airport, unless they have obtained a COVID-free certificate from an accredited COVID-19 testing centre abroad less than 48 hours before travel. 
• Travellers will then sign a pledge to adhere to quarantine at home for a week, noting that the traveller's status on the Ehteraz application will be yellow.
• After a week, they need to go to a dedicated health centre for a COVID-19 test
• If the result is positive, the traveller will be transferred to a isolation facilities 
• If the result is negative, the quarantine period ends and the traveller's status on the Ehteraz app will change to green

Arrivals from countries not listed as low-risk and without accredited COVID-19 testing facilities
• Those returning to Qatar are expected to stay in mandatory quarantine in a hotel at their own expense for seven days, booked through the Discover Qatar website.
• Arriving passengers will be tested for COVID-19 on day 6 at the hotel.
• If the result is positive, the traveller will be transferred to isolation facilities.
• If the result is negative, the hotel quarantine period ends and the traveller must enter home quarantine for another week. There status on the Ehteraz application will be yellow and will change to green after passing of a week. 
• The Ministry of Public Health has identified categories of people who are eligible for home quarantine for a week, regardless of the country from which they arrive.

Arrivals from countries not listed as low-risk, but with accredited COVID-19 testing facilities
• Those returning to Qatar will need to obtain a COVID-19 free certificate from an accredited COVID-19 testing centre no more than 48 hours before travel.
• Travellers will then sign a formal pledge to adhere to quarantine at home for a week noting that the travellers' status on the Ehteraz app will be yellow.
• After a week of self-quarantine, travellers will need to go to a dedicated health centre for a COVID-19 test.
• If the result is positive, travellers will be transferred to isolation facilities. 
• If the result is negative, the quarantine period ends and the travellers' status on the Ehteraz application will change to green.
