Kuwait on Saturday banned commercial flights from 31 countries due to concerns over the spread of the new coronavirus.
The ban on selected countries, which takes immediate effect until further notice, was declared even as Kuwait on Saturday resumed international flights after a hiatus of nearly five months.
Kuwaiti civil aviation authorities said the ban was on travellers coming from "high-risk" countries. They include Spain, Italy, China, Iran, Brazil, India, Pakistan, Egypt, Lebanon and Iraq.
The ban was instituted upon "instructions from the Kuwaiti health authorities," Kuwait's state news agency KUNA reported.
It was not clear if flights from Kuwait to those countries will also be banned.
Oil-wealthy Kuwait has a large community of migrant workers.
