Over a span of 30 days, Qatar saw its population shrinking by 20,000 people from 2.81 million in May to 2.79 million in June, according to the Planning and Statistics Authority.
The decline follows a slow but steady rise in population since January 2020. The figure stood at 2.27 million in January, 2.78 million in February, 2.79 million in March and 2.805 million in April.
In the July edition of PSA’s monthly report featuring statistics in June, the authority said the male population in Qatar stands at 2.034 million and that of females at 760,094.
As many as 310 couples got married in Qatar in June. Divorces, on the other hand, numbered 76.
