The coronavirus pandemic is affecting millions around the globe, but it has also brought out the best in people.
While healthcare workers are risking their lives to tame the coronavirus on the frontlines, support has been pouring in from all quarters, including the Qatari sporting fields.
Players of the Al Sadd Sports Club made a wonderful gesture to the 'warriors in white coats' ahead of their QNB Stars League Round 18 game against Al-Khor on Saturday.
The players entered the field at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium dressed in white coats in honour of the healthcare professionals.
In a video posted on Twitter by @NadeebaQa, the Al Sadd playing XI can be seen in the coats standing in attention as the national anthem is played ahead of the match.
As the anthem stopped and the players slipped out of the coats, the words “Thank you” is seen over their jersey numbers, in place of their names.
“We have a special jersey for tonight, with the same message, denoting our gratitude to all those worked and are working on the frontline. This isn’t all! There will be another special show of thanks for the White Army in our special way,” Al Sadd SC said on its official Twitter handle ahead of Saturday’s match.
The Qatar Stars League, which re-started after a four-and-a-half month long break on Friday, has also seen players of different teams wearing special jerseys with messages showing gratitude and appreciation to the medical community.
