In the first half of this year, the Health Control Department of the Al-Wakra Municipality carried out 4,427 inspections on all food establishments within the municipality’s administrative borders.
They have resulted in ending 128 violations of health and safety codes and penal action against 26 food establishments.
During the period, the department’s veterinarians supervised the slaughter of 75,853 carcasses at the Al-Wakra Central Market. They destroyed 902 carcasses 23,279 kilograms of meat deemed unfit for human consumption.
The period also saw the municipalities of Al Khor and Al Thakira making 1,673 inspections to ensure compliance with Law No. 18 of 2017 on Public Hygiene and Cleaning.
