With Qatar starting a four-phased plan to lift COVID-19 restrictions, more than 100 stores have reopened in the Mall of Qatar.
These stores are in fashion, perfume, cosmetics, watches, accessories and electronics categories.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the mall management assured the public that all the necessary measures have been taken in accordance with the directions of the Ministry of Public Health to protect its tenants, staff and customers against the virus infection.
“The safety of the staff, the tenants, and the shoppers are of utmost importance to the Mall of Qatar,” the management added in the statement.
Emile Sarkis, General Manager, Mall of Qatar, said: “We are pleased to resume operations and happy to welcome visitors again. The Mall of Qatar is taking necessary precautions to guarantee the safety and health of our staff and shoppers alike. We have implemented measures such as sanitisation and contactless payment options for customers to minimize the risk of transmission.”
The Mall of Qatar subjects the whole premises to deep cleaning and sanitizing on a daily basis to maintain “strict hygiene” across the mall, the management claimed.
“With its slogan ‘Welcome Back, We Missed You’, the Mall of Qatar has already started an awareness campaign on its social media platforms that educates shoppers on the best ways for safe shopping. Instructions are installed at the entrances and throughout the Mall to remind the public about the distances that must be observed and to sanitize their hands regularly,” the statement said.
In addition, Mall of Qatar is taking all the necessary precautions that secure the safety and health of staff, tenants, and shoppers alike. All visitors entering the Mall should show the green code on Ehteraz app on their mobiles, wear masks, and always maintain social distancing. The Mall also did a comprehensive meticulous cleaning and sanitization to the exterior and interior areas. Thermal cameras have been installed at the entrances to secure that all visitors are in good health and don’t show any symptoms.
Throughout the mall corridor and hallways, hand sanitation stations are also installed. The Mall of Qatar urges all visitors to follow the instructions at the entrances and assures the public that the safety and health of visitors, employees, and tenants remain their top priority.
The re-opened stores took the necessary measures to secure the 30% capacity and monitor the number of visitors inside the shops at all times.
The first phase of lifting restrictions started today on June 15, will be followed by the second phase from July 1, third phase from August 1 and fourth phase from September 1.
