The coronavirus (COVID-19) tests (first phase of protocol), developed by the Qatar Stars League and approved by the Ministry of Public Health, began at the Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiyah Stadium on Monday.
The tests are being conducted according to the general plan and in preparation for the resumption of training and matches of 2019-20 season QNB Stars League which was stalled due to the pandemic in mid-March.
The testing procedure aims to reduce and control the risk of the novel coronavirus infection from spreading between team members and players as they return to training and action. It follows all preventive and precautionary measures.
A number of players as well as the technical and administrative staff underwent the tests on the first day. After completion of the tests, they will return to their homes under self-quarantine until the results arrive.
In the event of a positive case (God forbid), the person will undergo the procedures of Ministry of Public Health. If the test result is negative, he will join the team at their hotel as per schedule.
The QNB Stars League battle will resume next month with leaders Al Duhail (42 points), Al Rayyan (38), Al Sadd (32) and Al Gharafa (28) holding on to the top four slots in the 12-team league.
According to the fixtures announced, Qatar SC will play their ‘home’ match against Al Rayyan on July 24 at brand new Education City Stadium, a venue that will host the 2022 FIFA World Cup matches.
