Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has provided new support to the medical sector in the Gaza Strip, as part of a project implemented there to extend urgent assistance to prevent the coronavirus (COVID-19).
The QRCS stated that the Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip received 800 quick test strips to detect coronavirus that can give results within 15 minutes only, a matter which enables medical teams to quickly deal with those suspected of contracting the virus.
This support will help the medical teams to quickly deal with people suspected of having the virus, said Ameed Mushtaha, director of the laboratories department at the Palestinian Ministry of Health. The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip faces a shortage of coronavirus testing devices, he said, adding this is the first batch of this type of quick test strips that the ministry has received, hoping it will not be the last. He added that they will start using them to test citizens coming through border crossings immediately based on the policy adopted to counter the corona pandemic.
