Hamad Medical Corporation’s (HMC) Hamad General Hospital (HGH) and Al Wakrah Hospital Emergency Departments received 754 cases on the second day of Eid Al-Fitr on Monday.
A majority of the cases were related to the gastrointestinal tract associated with change in food habits following Ramadan.
The total number of cases attended at HGH was 539 which included 364 males and 175 females. Those attended at Al Wakrah Hospital were 150 males and 65 females.
There were only 30 admissions in total in both hospitals. There were no critical cases as all cases ranged from mild to moderate.
It is worth to note that these cases are not related to novel corona virus disease.
Speaking to Qatar Tribune HMC Consultant of Emergency Medicine, Medical Toxicologist and Vice Chairman for Corporate Affairs of HMC Department of Emergency Medicine Dr Galal Alessai said that just like the first day of Eid, there were no critical cases as well. “Monday was even much better than Sunday regarding the seriousness of the cases. Most of them were simple and there were only a few admissions only. Most of the cases were related to gastrointestinal tract.”
According to Dr Alessai, the admissions were simple and moderate and only two or three cases involved surgery for appendicitis or stone extraction. “There were no critical cases at all. Most of the cases were treated and went home.  Some of the cases the cases stayed in the hospital for a few hours for treatment and discharged.”
The first day of Eid (Sunday) the Emergency Departments of the two hospital received a total of 651 cases.
