The novel coronavirus infection rate will possibly fall but it is unlikely that the COVID-19 pandemic will disappear soon, a doctor who has experience dealing with a virus of the same family has said in Doha.
Dr Patrick Tang, the Division Chief of Pathology Sciences at Sidra Medicine who fought SARS coronavirus (SARS-CoV) in 2006, said finding a cure takes years for researchers.
In an interview aired on Qatar TV Dr Tang emphasized the importance of taking COVID-19 seriously as it was real and has massive effects on people and health sectors.
As for the rumors spreading on social media saying that Coronavirus does not exist in nature, Dr Tang said that people starting the rumors will realize COVID-19 is real when they visit hospitals and witness the number of cases and the pressure on health sectors and doctors.
“COVID-19 infection mainly spread through breathing” Dr Tang said, and he emphasized on the importance of following the instructions announced by health sectors, from wearing masks and continuous sterilization.
Dr Tang urged the people to listen and follow the stated health instructions, staying home, and especially when the person is suffering from chronic and other diseases.
