QT-Online / Sunday, May 17, 2020 / Categories: Health/Medicine COVID-19: Blood plasma treatment seems to be a promising option, says Dr Maslamani Tribune News Network Doha Transfusing the antibody-rich blood plasma of recovered COVID-19 patients into people who are battling the illness “appears to be a promising (treatment) option”, Medical Director of Communicable Disease Centre Dr Muna al Maslamani has said. As many as 91 COVID-19 patients have received treatment with blood plasma so far with the serum obtained from 79 donors who recovered from the virus infection, she said. There has been a rise in the number of blood plasma donors week after week, she added. Dr Maslamani said the Hamad Medical Corporation has started adopting advanced treatment options in for COVID-19 patients at the six designated coronavirus treatment facilities. The six facilities are Communicable Disease Center (CDC), Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital, The Cuban Hospital, Mesaieed Hospital, Ras Laffan Hospital and the field hospital opened recently in Al Shahaniya.
