The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has reiterated that the National Command Center (NCC) remains one of the most key institutions in the battle against the coronavirus (COVID) pandemic.
The centre has operations rooms that coordinate with all state agencies. It has more than 20 security and civil districts under the supervision of the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management. The centre receives information from various regions of the country.
Major General Khalifa Abdullah al Nuaimi, head of the NCC, said the Ministry of Interior works 24 hours a day with all state agencies to maintain security and safety.
For his part, Lieutenant Mesfer al Qahtani said the centre is the heartbeat of the MoI, where it receives communications via cameras spread throughout the country.
Drones roam around the country to monitor violations, and also reports are received by the robot known as Al-Asas, he said.
“We receive communications through the emergency number as well as through reports that are being sent to the centre through the police themselves,” he said.
He further added that efforts made by the various state agencies to tackle the virus will not be successful unless people remain committed to stay at home and not going out unless absolutely necessary.
First Lieutenant Sultan al Otaibi said the emergency services are divided into 50 units through which all communications are received around the clock and they are followed up through major screens in the central operations room, and response efforts are coordinated immediately to face any emergency and follow the course of operations through the Najm system.
The Najm system determines the location of the security communication directly, and then the report is transferred to the command and control room to determine the appropriate security patrols that will be directed to follow up on the report quickly, which places Qatar in an advanced position to confront crises and deal with them.
