 Qatar on Friday recorded 136 new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19), taking the total number of cases to 2,512 in the country, the Ministry of Public Health has announced.

In a statement, the MoPH said 21 more people also recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people recovered in Qatar to 227.

 It said some new cases are related to travellers who came to Qatar and others related to contacts. The new cases have been put into quarantine and are receiving the necessary medical care.

 The MoPH called on all members of society to stay at home and not go out except absolutely necessary.

 The Ministry of Public Health also requested all members of society to cooperate fully and adhere to all health guidelines and preventive measures to reduce the risk of infection, including sticking to social and physical distancing guidelines.

 It also recommended that the public regularly visit the MoPH website to find out more advice about staying safe.
