The trial operation of Doha Metro's east-west Gold Line, which runs from Ras Bu Aboud Station to Al Aziziyah Station, will begin on November 21 (Thursday).
The Gold Line covers 11 stations — Ras Bu Aboud, National Museum, Souq Waqif, Musheireb, Bin Mahmoud, Al Sadd, Sudan, Jawaan, Al Waab, Sports City and Aziziyah.
Operation timings for the Gold Line will be the same as those for the Red Line — Saturday to Thursday from 6 am to 11 am. On Friday, the services starts at 2 pm and ends at 11 pm.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Transport and Communication, the Doha Metro users can switch between Red Line and the Gold Line at Musheireb Station.
To cover a wider range and serve more neighbouhoods and area adjacent to the stations, new routes will be allocated to the Metro Link service, which is a shuttle bus service to transport passengers from neighbouring areas to and from the metro stations.
In May, Doha Metro started partial operation of the Red Line, linking Al Wakra in the South to Al Qassar in the North.
The nearly 35-minute ride from one end to the other covers 13 stations, including crucial stops such as Msheireb, Corniche and the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre, which is right next to the City Centre Mall.
Another line — Green — is under construction, which upon completion in 2020 will take the total number of stations to 37.
