Minister of Culture and Sports HE Salah bin Ghanem al Ali has urged educational institutions and thinkers to transfer culture to reality and turn it into a societal behaviour open to others and imbued with values of love and coexistence among nations and peoples.
In an open dialogue with Qatar University officials, the minister stressed the importance of learning about the cultural heritage of other nations for the sake of renaissance and spreading culture to promote the values of coexistence and peace.
The minister of culture and sports said that educational institutions and thinkers must transfer culture from classrooms to the daily reality of citizens so that culture can be used and transformed into daily behaviour among people.
He also pointed to some of the socially rejected cultural behaviours and the need to change them to make the desired cultural transformation, calling for more emphasis on the noble meanings and values of Islam such as tolerance, concern for human dignity and daily concepts in dealing with people regardless of their nationality and race.
He stressed that culture must be distinguished as a vision not only a general concept, stressing the importance of popular awareness of the concepts of culture and the importance of openness to others and mutual understanding in a more meaningful and objective manner.
