Qatar Olympic Committee President HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al Thani with Qatar’s world champion high jumper Mutaz Essa Barshim after the latter won the Male Athlete of the Year Award 2017 in Monaco on Friday. Barshim became the first Asian to win the award. “I’m really happy, and so proud. It’s a moment of honour. It’s breaking ground. It shows if you work hard, have the right team around you, everything is possible,” Barshim said.
