The political, economic and security problems faced by Arab nations can only be overcome through strong political will and a creative vision to understand the essence of these challenges, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs HE Sultan bin Saad al Muraikhi has said.
The minister also called for cooperation and constructive dialogue based on mutual respect of the sovereignty of states to resolve disputes.
Muraikhi was speaking at the first closed working session of the Arab foreign ministers at the headquarters of the Arab League.
"Any escalation of the tense and dangerous situation in our Arab region, with all its international dimensions and regional overlaps, would lead to extremely dangerous consequences for Arab national security, regional stability and security of the world. There is a need for calm and dialogue to end disputes among the Arab countries and with Iran so that the region returns to its normal state of security and stability," the minister said.
Muraikhi expressed confidence that the ministers would reach decisions that would serve the interests of the peoples, away from the pressures and emotions.
He renewed Qatar's strong condemnation over the launch of a ballistic missile towards the city of Riyadh.
