As part of the preparation for this year's National Day celebrations, the National Day Organising Committee has been training 400 volunteers to hone their skills such as crowd control, first aid and fire fighting.
The volunteers will participate in the National Day activities to be held at Darb Al Saai and Al Corniche.
During the training, the participants will also learn how to effectively communicate with people, work under immense pressure, and to enhance their confidence in facing challenges and taking up initiatives.
The volunteers will also get training in first aid by Hamad International Training Center of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC). After successful completion of eight hours of training, they will receive international licences with two-year validity.
The training programme, being held in collaboration with a number of bodies, will continue until next month as part of the ongoing preparations for the National Day. They will receive 24 hours of training before Darb Al Saai activities and 16 hours before the activities at Darb Al Saai.
The National Day Organising Committee, in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, has adopted the voluntary hours for the students of secondary schools.
The committee has offered Ali bin Hamad Al Attiyah Arena and Al Markhyia Primary Independent School for Girls to organise the training courses.
Aisha al Mutawa, chairperson of the Training and Development Committee said the training programme would contribute to building the abilities of the participants while sharpening their skills.
