Indonesian women promoted the 'Bakiak' race at the Family Day celebration held by Pearling Season International School in Doha (PSISD) recently. The event was attended by around 800 people from different countries, including students and parents.
Siti, a coordinator for Indonesia, said that promoting Indonesian traditional games is supported by the Indonesian embassy.
The Bakiak race is one of Indonesia's traditional games. It is usually played in teams where members slip their feet into ski-like planks and race against other teams. The game tests dexterity, leadership, teamwork, creativity and honesty. Besides the Bakiak race, other games from different countries were also introduced at the event.
Indonesian Ambassador to Qatar HE Muhammad Basri Sidehabi praised the Indonesian women of PSISD for supporting the embassy's mission to promote good ties between Indonesia and Qatar in socio-cultural activities.
