Foreign Minister HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al Thani has called for resolving the differences between the Gulf states and Iran through dialogue, referring to the current escalation between Riyadh and Tehran.
In an interview to TRT World channel, Sheikh Mohammed said solutions to those differences should be carried out in accordance with the principles of respect for state sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of any state.
He said Qatar's position has not changed before and after the crisis and the problems between the Gulf states and Iran should be resolved through dialogue and not through media platforms.
He said the Gulf countries are neighbours and not far from Iran.
Sheikh Mohammed said the region lacks the voice of wisdom that can prevent the ongoing absurdity and political adventures. There's an urgent need to stop political adventures, he added.
On the blockade of Qatar, he said the Saudi-led bloc continues to reject the calls for dialogue to end the crisis.
The Kuwaiti mediation, which enjoys international support, is still the basis for resolving the crisis, he added.
"We have shown our readiness for dialogue, but the blockading countries have rejected it and used unacceptable methods," the FM said.
Sheikh Mohammed said the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Charter suffers from obvious shortcomings and needs to be revised and developed.
He expressed his hope for the return of the GCC, but said"confidence will not be the same unless clear and transparent criteria are put into place."
On the Lebanese crisis, the FM said Lebanon's stability should be restored as soon as possible and everyone should avoid intervening in that country's internal affairs.
"When President General Michel Aoun and Prime Minister Hariri were elected, there was hope of restoring stability in Lebanon. Qatar wants stability, whoever is in charge. We consider Lebanon to be very sensitive; it shouldn't get caught up in any conflict between countries.
"Everyone should avoid intervening in Lebanon's internal affairs and problems should be solved mutually. It's not wise to create a new crisis when other crises are not yet solved," the FM added.
