ALGERIA believes that having a dialogue while respecting the sovereignty of states and adhering to the principles of good neighbourliness, is the only viable means of resolving disputes between nations, said Algerian Ambassador to Qatar HE Abdelaziz Sebaa.
Addressing guests including Qatari ministers, diplomats, and dignitaries on the occasion of the anniversary celebrations of Algeria's Revolution Day, Sebaa said that countries must respect sovereignty of their neighbours.
He remarked,"Algeria from the very start of the Gulf crisis has stressed upon the need to initiate a dialogue between Qatar and its neighbours by adhering to the principles of non-interference in the internal affairs of other states and by respecting their respective sovereignty."
He added,"Algeria supports the mediation led by His Highness the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah al Ahmad al Jaber al Sabah to find a solution to this crisis within the framework of the Gulf Cooperation Council."
Speaking on the ties between Qatar and Algeria, he said:"The relations between Algeria and Qatar have seen remarkable development in the recent years particularly, after the visit of His Highness the Emir to Algeria last November and the subsequent visit of Algerian foreign minister to Doha."
According to him, Algeria has always supported dialogue for the settlement of crises and conflicts within the framework of respect for the sovereignty of peoples and states and has rejected external interference.
"Algeria has adhered strictly to this principle in its positions on the crisis in Syria, Yemen, Mali or Libya", he pointed out.
Talking about the Algerian community in Qatar, he said, that the community has made modest contribution to the development being witnessed by Qatar in line with its National Vision 2030 and also serves to strengthen relations between the two brotherly countries."
Prominent among those who attended the event were Minister of Justice HE Dr Hassan Lahdan Saqr al Mohannadi, Minister of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs HE Dr Issa bin Saad al Jafali al Nuaimi and Director of Protocol Department HE Ibrahim Yousif Abdullah Fakhro.
