Qatar has hailed the appeal made by the Emir of Kuwait HH Sheikh Sabah al Ahmad al Jaber al Sabah for de-escalation of the Gulf crisis to help speedy healing of the wounds caused by the siege.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that throughout its history, Qatar has pursued all means of reconciliation and adopted civilised and peaceful approach to resolving conflicts.
In his speech at the opening session of the Kuwaiti National Assembly, the Kuwaiti Emir said that history and future generations of the Gulf and the Arabs wouldn't forgive anyone who contributes, even with one word, to fuel the dispute."GCC is a promising glimmer of hope in the darkness, a candlelight that illuminates the long tunnel, and a model to be followed in cooperation," he said, according to Kuwait's News Agency.
Qatar's Foreign Ministry underlined that Qatar strongly believes in the fairness of its position in the crisis and its adherence to dialogue based on mutual respect, principles and values.
"Qatar has always been in pursuit of unity in the Gulf, the achievement of the common Gulf goal and the fulfilment of all commitments to preserve the GCC," the statement noted.
It added:"Despite the systematic media campaign targeting its symbols, government and people, and the unfair and illegal measures it has been subjected to during the past months, Qatar has proudly preserved the civilised and moral position of the Qatari people. This is in response to the call of the Emir of Kuwait and in line with the approach laid down by the Emir of Qatar HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani in his address to the people of Qatar on July 21, calling upon citizens, residents and all media in Qatar to avoid abusing Gulf symbols and stay away from the outdated tribal rifts that the siege countries are trying to promote."
Qatar, which is committed to the principles of security, solidarity and friendship among the GCC countries, rejects the violations of these rules, while the Government of Qatar and its people maintain their right to legitimately defend their just rights with all objectivity and professionalism at all forums and platforms, the statement added.
Earlier, the Kuwaiti Emir made it clear in his speech that the only objective of his mediation is to"protect the Gulf House, which is our home, from collapse".
