US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has praised Kuwait for its efforts"to diplomatically seek a resolution" for the ongoing Gulf crisis, while President Donald Trump lauded Kuwaiti Emir HH Sheikh Sabah al Ahmad al Jaber al Sabah's influential role in the Middle-East region.
In statements reported by Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Saturday, Tillerson hailed the Kuwaiti mediation and its role in finding a diplomatic solution to the Gulf crisis.
Tillerson also welcomed Kuwait's recent commitments to several of"Trump's regional priorities". Kuwait"responded to Trump's historic call for action" during the Riyadh Summit to defeat the ISIS and prevent terrorism and violent extremism," he said.
President Trump thanked Kuwait's Emir"for all that he is doing in the region", saying"there is a lot of things happening in the Middle East".
Trump recalled his meeting with the Emir of Kuwait in September, saying"I met a man who is really helping us, really very strongly helping us in the Middle East."
Tillerson arrived in Saudi Arabia Saturday, his second visit to the region in recent months as he seeks a breakthrough in a diplomatic crisis gripping the Gulf.
