Calicut University Vice-Chancellor Dr K Mohammed Basheer visited Qatar Institute for Speech and Hearing (QISH) recently. He appreciated the services that have been rendered by the institute which aims at mainstreaming the special needs population in Qatar.
Basheer visited the different departments of the centre which include Audiology, Speech therapy, Behavioural Therapy, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and had an interactive session with the therapists of each department to understand more about each service. He assured the support of Calicut University for a service provider with social commitment such as Qatar Institute for Speech and Hearing. He also exchanged information about the functions of the centre which is established under the affiliation of Calicut University for differently abled children.
QISH Group Managing Director Niyas Kavungal, Clinical and Operations Manager Sreekumar, Clinical Director Tarek Refaat, Group HR & Admin Manager Jaseena NK accompanied Basheer during the visit.
A reception was also held for Sullamussalam by Science Aareacode (SSA) where he received a memento from SSA alumni Sharmic Lalu, CP Samseer, Faiz Elayodan. SSA classes of 1996 to 2017 who reside in Qatar also joined the gathering. Alumnus Ameer Shaji spoke at the function.
Basheer, an academician and the youngest VC of Calicut University, has 20 years of teaching experience and a doctorate in Arabic. Prior to taking up the key post, he served as the principal of SSA College, Malappuram.
SSA College Qatar Chapter Alumni are conducting different programmes including expansion of alumni activities in Qatar and planning a student festival next year.
