Doha
Doha has been ranked 2nd safest city in the Middle East, and 30th globally, in the Safe Cities Index 2017 by the Economist's Intelligence Unit.
Qatar's capital city is well ahead of Saudi Arabia's Jeddah (42) and Riyadh (47) in terms of overall safety.
Tokyo, Singapore and Osaka are the top three safe cities in the world, according to the index.
In terms of personal security, Doha is 13th safest in the world, where as Jeddah is ranked 50 in this category. Doha's world rankings in other categories: Digital security 34, Health security 45 and Infrastructure security 30.
The Safe Cities Index 2017 is a report from The Economist Intelligence Unit, which ranks 60 cities in the world across 49 indicators covering digital security, health security, infrastructure security and personal security.
As in 2015, Tokyo tops the overall ranking in the Safe Cities Index 2017. The Japanese capital's strongest performance is in the digital security category while it has risen seven points in the health security category since 2015. However, in infrastructure security, it has fallen out of the top ten, to 12th.
Jeddah and Riyadh are the worst performing of the 21 cities from the developed world, having scored below average in all the four categories, particularly in the infrastructure and personal security.
