THE Jassim and Hamad Bin Jassim Charitable Foundation has donated QR2mn to the Pakistan International School Qatar (PISQ) to buy student desks as part of the foundation's QR7mn commitment to support the school.
The new desks will be purchased from Qdesk, a local brand, in line with the government's plan to boost local investment and products.
The donation was announced during a press conference held at the foundation's headquarters in the presence of representatives of the Pakistani Embassy and the school.
"We took this initiative out of our keenness to enhance education and our commitment to focus our support on health and education fields, locally and internationally," said Fawaz al Shammari, head of supportive services at the foundation.
From their side, the Pakistani Embassy and community thanked the foundation and the Qatari government for their constant support and aid.
Hafiz Junaid, advisor on Community Affairs at the Pakistani Embassy, said:"I am thankful to the foundation for its huge and generous support to PISQ in order to construct a fully furnished IGCSE academic block."
He explained that the support provided to them does not only include buildings but also logistics and fixtures they need.
At the end of the conference, Shammari revealed that a memorandum of understanding was signed with the PISQ to construct additional classrooms and administration offices, in addition to laboratories and meeting halls with a total worth QR7mn. He said they also signed a contract with a local company, Qatar Polymers, to manufacture 3,800 school benches of the Qdesk brand, adding that this makes the process faster and easier since the factory is located in Qatar.
