The Qatari construction sector is the fastest growing construction market in the Gulf region with $26 billion allocated for major projects and accounting for 47 percent of Qatar’s total expenditure in 2017, organising body of Project Qatar has said in a statement ahead of the announcement of the next edition of the mega exhibition.
In 2015 alone, the statement said, 60 percent of Qatar’s imports were construction-related, amounting to a total of $19.7 billion.
According to the statement, the 15th edition of Project Qatar will be held from May 7 to May 10, 2018 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center. The exhibition presents itself as a reliable platform for local, regional and international exhibitors to build partnerships, establish presence, generate business deals, and network with a wide and specialized audience.
Project Qatar is the country’s only business exhibition specialised in construction and all related industries. After 14 successful editions, the show promises fast market penetration into the country’s lucrative construction market, and the opportunity to generate new business leads with companies of all sizes.
“Project Qatar 2018 is thus a peerless platform, and participation is essential for everyone aiming at seizing a share of Qatar’s arena of opportunities,” the statement said.
The 47,700 sqm venue includes five column-free halls spreading over 30,000 sqm and contains a main foyer, bistros, public restrooms, prayer rooms, a loading zone, storage, circulation space, and a car park that can accommodate nearly 5,000 vehicles as well as a multi-function hall.
Located in West Bay area, the DECC is easily accessible from several routes and will be connected to the Sheraton Park through an underground tunnel that will bring visitors to the naturally crescent-shaped Doha Corniche. The venue is also located 15 minutes from Hamad International Airport and numerous hotels.
Highlighting various opportunities in Qatar’s growing construction sector, the statement said the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the FIFA World Cup 2022 were major growth drivers for Qatar’s construction industry.
“The ongoing implementation of major development projects across sectors like building, hospitality, tourism, transportation and infrastructure translate Qatar’s vision, as well as the recently-drafted National Development Strategy (NDS) 2017- 2022, aiming at creating conducive conditions for more private public participation,” the statement said.
To make the upcoming edition of Project Qatar more attractive, four new sub-sectors like Qatar Hospital Build, Qatar Sports Infrastructure, Qatar Transport and Logistics and Qatar School Build have been added to Project Qatar 2018.
