AS part of the ongoing Ruwais Port development project, a 'Port Market' will be established, which is expected to serve the commercial needs of the northern Qatar, Qatar Ports Management Company (Mwani Qatar) stated on Twitter on Sunday.
The Port Market will offer a wide range of international products from commercial ships calling at the port. The first phase of the market will be established over an area of 6,700 square metres and later expanded to an additional 3,200 sq-m.
The Ruwais Port Market will be handed over to traders later this year. The market at Ruwais port will feature state-of-the-art facilities, ranging from a mosque, a lounge and a cafeteria to rest rooms and offices for supervisory bodies.
Ruwais Port will serve as the northern gateway of commercial trade in Qatar.
It is strategically located at the centre of the Arabian Gulf and hence will receive a wide range of commercial goods.
Apart from contributing to the revival of economic activity in the northern regions of Qatar, the port also envisages to become a trading hub for goods from neighbouring countries.
