THE International Hunting and Falcons Exhibition, S'hail 2017, hosted by the Cultural Village Foundation- Katara, concluded on Sunday.
During the five-day festivities in Doha, the exhibition received a tremendous response from participants from Qatar and abroad as well as from thousands of falcon and hunting enthusiasts.
Minister of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs HE Ghaith bin Mubarak al Kuwari and Ambassador of Bulgaria to Qatar HE Metin Kazak as well a number of dignitaries visited the exhibition on the concluding day.
On Saturday, the daily Falcon auction witnessed a strong competition between eight bidders. The auction was dedicated to the rare falcon named 'Wahsh' (Al-Hurr), which is renowned for its high aesthetic specifications. The auction started with a minimum bidding price of QR300,000 and went up to QR700,000.
It was decided to name the Falcon"Sabah" after the Emir of Kuwait HH Sheikh Sabah al Ahmad al Jaber al Sabah.
General Manager of Katara and the Chairman of the organising committee of S'hail 2017 Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al Sulaiti said,"As the host of this exhibition, Katara has achieved marvelous accomplishments to be added to the organisation's successes, which has been proved by the number of visitors that the exhibition witnessed during the five-day festivities."
Katara's chief expressed his gratitude to the sponsors of S'hail that included Qatar National Bank, Ooredoo and Qatar Airways.
Dr Sulaiti praised several entities for their participation in the exhibition, including the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, General Authority of Customs, Al Galayl and Marmi competitions, Qatari Society of Al Gannas, Qatar Shooting and Archery Association, Al Rami Sports Club, Souq Waqif Falcon Hospital, Qatar Fine Arts Association, Simaisma Youth Center and Librtha Heritage Center.
He also thanked the exhibitors for their positive contribution throughout the event.
