MOWASALAT, the public transport company of Qatar, in collaboration with the public and competent authorities, is all set to provide its services for the public 24x7 during the Eid Al Adha holidays, said a press release on Tuesday.
Mowasalat (Karwa) boasts of a fleet of more than 4,000 taxis operated by Karwa and its four franchises, about 80 limousines as well as a fleet of about 3,800 buses, which includes 270 buses dedicated to serving the public plying on 52 routes, 2,800 school buses ferrying on an average 65,000 students in a day and 700 buses to serve the State during all major events and in commuting people through private hire and various contracts.
Mowasalat Chairman Nasser bin Mohammed al Malki extended his heartiest greetings to the Emir His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, Father Emir His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al Thani, the Deputy Emir His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al Thani and all the honourable personalities of Qatar on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.
"We wish that Qatar always enjoys security, welfare and prosperity under the wise leadership of HH the Emir. It is our endeavour to work closely with our stakeholders and the Ministry of Transport and Communications in delivering as per the plans and contribute to achieving our ministry's vision to provide modern sustainable transport network for the community," he said.
Managing Director and CEO of Mowasalat Khalid al Hail said:"Under the guidance of the ministry and in line with the National Transport Master Plan, Mowasalat introduced several modifications in its bus routes, including changes in existing routes and new routes during the second half of August 2017."
Hail added that a new public buses lay-by was added, which serves four of the main public bus routes (57, 74, 75 and 777) in one of the most important sites in the State, the heart of the West Bay. The new lay-by serves a group of the most important ministries and government headquarters in Doha, in addition to City Center Mall, various four- and five-star hotels, the Diplomatic Zone, which locates several embassies and the most important conference and exhibition halls of the country.
