Beating the unjust blockade successfully, Qatar is gearing up to celebrate Eid Al Adha festival in a grand way with traditional fervour.
The Ministry of Interior (MoI), Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), and The Cultural Village (Katara) among others have lined up several culturals programmes and entertainment activities for the auspicious occasion.
As part of its efforts to engage all communities in Qatar, the MoI in association with the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) and Barwa Group will organise"Eid Al Adha celebrations for communities" on the first and second day of Eid (September 1-2) at six venues ” Asian Town, Labour City, Barwa Baraha, Al Wakra Sports Club, Al Ahli Sports Club and Barwa Workers Recreation Complex in Al Khor ” from 5 pm to 10 pm.
The spots were selected to cover all places where labourers reside.
Brigadier Abdallah al Muftah, Head of Public Relations at MoI, said Eid celebrations will comprise musical, cultural, and traditional shows by community teams from India, Nepal, Sri Lankan and Bangladesh, along with performances by prominent orchestral troupes from Qatar and musical fiesta by artistes from Pakistan and Nepal. Besides entertainment activities, awareness lectures will also be organised.
The communities will have the chance to watch some of their famous stars and singers who will be performing at some of the cultural shows.
Ahli Sports Club stadium will host the Nepalese show, while Barwa Baraha playground will witness musical performances and songs by artistes from Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh.
The Asian Town will have a grand celebration at the cricket stadium, where artistes from India and Bangladesh will entertain the audience.
The celebrations at the Labour City is restricted only for the residents there. Al Wakra Sports Club Stadium will host Pakistani musical show.
All programmes will run from 5pm until 10pm on the first and second day of Eid with free entry for all.
In addition, awareness programs by different departments of MoI such as traffic, civil defence, Al Fazaa police, community police, search and follow-up department, human rights department, Emergency service 999 and public relations department of MoI, Permanent Committee for Drugs and Alcohols and Labours Department from MADLSA will also be held.
QTA has also announced a slew of events for Eid Al Adha, which coincides with the final week of the Qatar Summer Festival. An array of exciting activities, including theatre plays, the summer edition of the Heya Arabian Fashion Exhibition, and Doha Comedy Festival has been rolled out.
Similarly, Katara will celebrate Eid Al Adha festival on Friday with a series of new performances and events at the Katara Corniche. Visitors will enjoy exciting artistic shows inspired by the Arab heritage, which revolves around the famous character of Arabian tales and wonderful and comic stories that mix excitement and suspense. The stories will be presented daily through the shadow theater in an interactive manner and a modern technique, using bright colours and shapes designed especially for the purpose.
Eid gifts will also be presented to children at 7 pm and 8:15 pm with a daily display of fireworks at 9:30 pm to light up the sky at night, which is expected to enthrall visitors.
