THE Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), represented by the Environmental and Municipal Studies Center, concluded the first phase of the 'electronic inspection' programme recently, with the participation of 170 inspectors at the ministry.
The programme was launched in cooperation with the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Center on May 7, aiming at raising the efficiency of inspectors and quality of inspection services. It also seeks to achieve MME's objectives and vision of e-governance through electronic applications which allow the public to carry out transactions and avail of services.
The programme is now able to locate inspection sites on digital map, make seizure reports, direct warnings and send notices of irregularities through e-mail.
The programme will lead to the establishment of an e-database of all facilities in the country at the ministry. The database will contribute to organisation, classification and sorting of information, ensuring accuracy and improving quality of performance.
During the training programme, the participating inspectors were divided into five groups four for men and one for women. The duration of the programme was one week with 20 hours training for each group.
The MME's Environmental and Municipal Studies Center is set to proceed with the implementation of the electronic inspection programmes for all categories of inspectors at the ministry.
The second phase of the programme will start after Eid Al Adha holidays with participation of 80 inspectors who are expected to complete training by the end of October.
The electronic inspection programme for all categories of inspectors and observers at the ministry is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
