THE Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has declared that Qatar's markets are free from eggs contaminated with pesticide residues.
The ministry clarified that Qatar does not import eggs from the European country mentioned in the notice alerting countries about the contaminated eggs produced there.
Official statistics show that Qatar imported 1,550,920 kg of eggs from 10 different countries - six Arab countries, three European countries and one East Asian country - between May and July 2017.
The ministry confirmed that all imported eggs consignments were tested at the central food laboratories of the ministry and found to be in conformity with the approved standards.
The MoPH has also taken additional precautionary measures to double check safety of eggs imported from Europe.
