'Perseid meteor' to illuminate Qatar sky

THE 'Perseid meteor' shower will illuminate Qatar sky and Northern Hemisphere sky from Saturday, August 12, 2017, evening until dawn of Sunday, August 13, 2017, Qatar Calendar House (QCH) has forecast.
'Perseid meteor' shower is usually active from first until mid-August and reaches its peak between the evening of August 12 and dawn of August 13 every year, according to Dr Beshir Marzouk, astronomy expert at QCH.
Qatar and Arab countries' residents will not need astronomical telescopes to see 'Perseid meteor' shower because they can see it with naked eye from dark places and places without light and environment pollutions (pure sky).
Dr Marzouk added,"One has to look at northeast horizon of Qatar sky to see 'Perseid meteor'. Moreover, residents can take a nice photo of 'Perseid meteor' by using recent digital cameras, but they must increase exposure time of camera while taking photo to get the best shot of 'Perseid meteor'."
The 'Perseid meteor' is one of the important and best meteors seen from the earth as the average shower, when it arrives its peak, will be between 90 and 100 Perseid meteors per hour, according to astronomy experts in meteor observation.
The debris from Comet 'Swift-Tuttle' is the main reason for Perseid meteor to happen because earth passes through the dust and debris it leaves behind every year, creating the annual 'Perseid meteor' shower. Swift-Tuttle last passed by earth during its orbit around the sun in 1992 and will take place next in 2126.
The best time to view 'Perseid meteor' is after midnight until dawn, while the best location is a dark place without light and environmental pollutions. (TNN)
