The Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, at the Emiri Diwan on Sunday, met with players of Qatar Paralympic Committee following their excellence at world championships. At the outset of the meeting, the Emir welcomed all winners including those who claimed the top place at the GCC countries level and fourth at the Arab world level at the World Para Athletics Championships in London last July, as well as the winners at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and winners at the Special Olympics World Winter Games in March 2017.
The Emir congratulated the athletes for their accomplishments which represent an achievement for Qatar in the international sports arena. The Emir wished them success for their future participation in international sports competitions and praised their enthusiasm and sporting spirit.
On their part, the winners expressed pleasure on meeting the Emir. They appreciated his generous gesture by welcoming them, stressing that their achievements would not have been possible without His Highness’ support for them and for the sports sector in general and for athletes with special needs in particular.
