Milaha, a Qatar-based maritime and logistics conglomerate, has announced the launch of in-country operations in Oman.
It is initially setting up warehousing and third-party logistics (3PL) services within the Sohar Free Zone, while continuing to further expand its diverse portfolio in Oman.
The announcement comes after the company's decision to shift its regional transshipment hub to the Port of Sohar, where Milaha is offering competitive transit time for local cargo and a high frequency of Oman to Qatar sailings.
Milaha currently calls two ports in Oman (Sohar and Salalah) and three ports in India (NhavaSheva, Mundra, and Kandla), offering enhanced connectivity and transit times to Qatar and the region, and is actively evaluating further expansion of services.
Milaha's logistics setup in Oman will provide excellent opportunities for local, regional, and international importers and exporters, and will increase options to access the lucrative Qatari market.
Milaha's President and CEO Abdulrahman Essa al Mannai said,"We are pleased to be setting up in Oman as we seek to strengthen our position as a leading international provider of marine transport and logistics services.
"We are excited about the opportunities this will bring for our partners and ourselves, especially as we add new value-add services such as distribution and LCL, among others, over the next few weeks. We will aim, as always, toprovide the most cost-effective and efficient solutions to our clients."
