Qatar Ports Management Company (Mwani Qatar) CEO Abdullah al Khanji has sought to strengthen the cooperation between Qatar and Oman in maritime economics and logistics as a high-ranking delegation from the Sultanate visit ed Qatar.
Mwani Qatar, Khanji said, continues its efforts to build strong and sustainable partnerships with ports, and shipping and logistics operators to support domestic market stability and contribute to achieving the Qatar National Vision 2030 goals.
The visit is aimed at discussing ways to enhance trade and economic relations between the two sides.
The Omani delegation consisted of representatives of the Asayad Group, which includes National Ferries Company, Duqm Port, Sohar Port and Free Zone, Salalah Free Zone Company, Salalah Port Services Company and Oman International Container Terminal.
The official visit started with a presentation on the Hamad Port and its stages of construction; progress of the remaining phases and future plans set by the Ministry of Transport and Communications to strengthen Hamad Port's status as well as Qatar's drive to becoming a major regional trade hub.
The delegation toured the Hamad Port, where they were briefed about the modern facilities, services, marine docks, container terminals and other port facilities, which together form Qatar's main gateway to trade with the world.
The Omani team also toured the Al-Ruwais Port for a firsthand understanding of the port's facilities and to know more about the activities and services it provides. The port receives various types of commercial goods and serves as an additional outlet for the promotion of regional trade and the revival of the economy of the northern part of Qatar.
