Former Thai prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Thursday rallied for support ahead of a court verdict related to her failed rice subsidy policy.
"I'm about to go to Ubon Ratchathani province to join my supporters in planting marigolds," wrote Yingluck on her Facebook page."Your support will give me strength," she added, referring to her upcoming court appearances.
Ubon Ratchathani is one of the provinces in the north and north-eastern regions where Yingluck's Pheu Thai party has a stronghold.
Yingluck - Thailand's first and only female prime minister - was ousted in a May 2014 military coup. Although she has been banned from politics for five years by the junta, she remains popular among the rural population.
Soon after her ouster, Yingluck had been tried for criminal negligence for her rice subsidy programme which allegedly cost the country between 4 and 17 billion dollars.
She is due to deliver her closing statement on August 1 and the verdict is scheduled for August 25.
If found guilty, Yingluck could face up to 10 years in prison and would be disqualified from becoming prime minister again.
