THE Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME), represented by its municipalities, has continued its efforts to develop Qatari beaches and provide various services and facilities for the beachgoers, considering beaches as a favourite destination for many families to spend their holidays.
The most prominent beaches include Simaisma beach, Al Wakrah Family Beach, Farkeh Beach in Al Khor, Al Thakhira Beach for families, Al Kharaij Family Beach in Umm Bab area and Northern Beaches.
Simaisma Beach in Al Daayen Municipality is a tourist destination for families coming from different areas. Located in Simaisma area,the beach is about one kilometre long and is close to Simaisma Family Park.
Al Daayen Municipality has worked continuously to improve services and facilities at the beach in order to satisfy public need. At Simaisma Beach, visitors can spend their weekends to relax and enjoy barbecue and swimming, while the children have fun at the play zone.
Located about seven kilometres from Al Wakra city center, Al Wakra Beach,equipped with barbecue area, three kids play zone, solar-powered charging stations, a mosque, toilets, women and men's bathrooms, is a major destination for the residents.
On the other hand, Farkeh Beach for families located at east of Al Khor boasts a cafeteria, lighting and a well-planned road for visitors' safe ride.
At Farkeh Beach, there is a special section for women and children as well as a dedicated area for families in addition to kids play zone.
Besides, Al Thakhira Beach for families has recently been equipped with solar-powered lighting, a beach-side walkway and kids play zone.
Al Kharaij Family Beach, located on the West Coast in Um Bab area, features a clean and quiet environment which allows practice of many sports activities throughout the week. The beach has umbrellas with barbecue grills, garbage containers and a kids play zone. It also has night lighting and toilet facilities.
