Filipino theatre group Tanghalang Overseas Pinoy (TOPi) will be performing songs from different genres and various plays including Disney, Broadway and original Filipino musicals during their promotional concert to be staged at Gondolania in Villagio Mall on August 4 at 6 pm.
Admission to the 'Fusion' event is free. The event will serve as a curtain-raiser to the upcoming charity concert of the group titled 'Scenes From The Stage' to be held at the Almas Hall of City Centre Rotana Doha on September 2.
"The performance will be in three segments. They will perform songs from Broadway musical plays like Jekyll & Hyde, Miss Saigon and Phantom of the Opera. We will also perform different Disney musical songs such as Frozen, Hercules, Mulan and Tangled that will surely be enjoyed by the young audiences and those young at heart. In support of the group's objective in promoting the performing arts and Philippine culture in Qatar, TOPi will be showcasing excerpts from several original Filipino musicals created by award winning Filipino musicians and lyricists. They can enjoy songs from Alikabok, Katy! The Musical and Noli Me Tangere," said TOPi President Bryan Ricafrente. He added that the event wil definitely entertain families and expat communities in the country especially those with apassion for performing arts.
TOPi's musical play 'Scenes From The Stage' in September is not just a showcase of the group's talent and love for performing arts but also intends to reach out to different sectors in need.
"Part of the proceeds of this show will go towards helping people in need in coordination with United Filipino Organizations in Qatar (UFOQ) supported by the Alliance of Filipino Journalists in Qatar (AFJQ). Those who would like to extend support, sponsorship and assistance to the event can call on 66564416," Ricafrente said.
