THE Community College of Qatar (CCQ) has announced the launch of a new programme on logistics and supply chain operations, which will begin in fall 2017.
President of CCQ Ibrahim bin Saleh al Naimi said the new course will be topical in light of Qatar's expansion of export and import activities with a growing number of countries around the world.
"This development means that governmental institutions and private businesses will require an efficient management of these operations, something provided by the new programme. Mastering the logistics and supply chain operations will help honour local and international contracts, supplying and storing products sustainably and properly, which would enhance profitability of companies. There is also an increased demand for logistics management in sports and in aerial and maritime transport fields," he said.
The new programme will empower students by providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage the inflow of information and products as part of the supply chain of companies and government institutions. It will also provide them with the ability to analyse different situations to make the appropriate decision and use technology to facilitate the processing of supplying. The launch will provide CCQ students with job opportunities in the field of logistics at airports, ports, factories, logistics companies, hospitals and sporting institutions, among other sectors.
CCQ will inaugurate a new building in Al Khor, which will be the city's first higher education building. Fall of 2017 will be Al Khor building's first semester, but it will be fully functional in January 2018. It will serve the entire northern area with a capacity to accommodate 1,500 students.
The CCQ also launched a hotline, 16070, aimed at helping students who wish to join a particular programme by answering their queries.
