The Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Doha continues to reach out to Filipinos across the country with initiatives aimed at improving the service delivery of the agency.
Shifting to a new location two months ago is one of the biggest moves of POLO under the leadership of Philippine Labour Attache to Qatar David Des Dicang. The new POLO office, located in the heart of Doha, has given a more professional look to the agency which was formerly housed in a villa in Dafna area.
But, according to Dicang, moving to a very accessible location, has also led to an increase in their daily transactions involving Filipinos and people of other nationalities.
"Our operations have become more organised after moving to a new office but because we are now located in the centre of the city we have noticed a surge in transactions. That's why we felt the need to make our operations more systematic for better service delivery," the official said.
The latest initiative launched by POLO is the online appointment for employment contract verification through its official website (www.polodoha.com.ph). An advisory was put up on its website regarding the new system which is aimed at decongesting the processing area at POLO.
This initiative has been lauded by Filipino nationals."I have been to the new POLO office recently and it is indeed a good feeling to transact with them in a more business-like environment. The new online appointment system similar to the existing online appointment for application of OEC (overseas employment certificate) are measures that prove that POLO is committed to providing good service to Filipino workers in the country," said Annie Lim, a secretary in a construction firm.
Another expat Roland Cruz praised the efforts of POLO to reach out to more Filipinos through its official website which was recently launched. He said,"It is commendable that POLO in Doha now has its own website dedicated to its services and key functions. Launching an online appointment system separate from the online appointment system for vacationing overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) is another milestone for the agency that we truly appreciate."
