Thrilling end to the Nishan Ramadan Championship

Rashid Saleh Hamad and Khalifa al Attiyah emerged the champions in their respective categories and won a Toyota Land Cruiser each at the Nishan Ramadan Championship.
At the Losail Ranges, His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad al Thani, President, Qatar Olympic Committee, presided over the prize distribution of the unique event, organised by the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association, and gave away the prizes.
Over 200 professional and amateur males and females contested in the eight-day championship. All had to participate in six events air rifle, air pistol, archery, skeet, trap and double trap. The person who collected maximum points in all the six events was declared the winner.
In the Professional class, Rashid Saleh Hamad and Khalid al Muhannadi provided a thrilling finale to the event when they contested in their favourite Skeet section. Hamad shot 25, while Muhannadi could manage only 23. The former aggregated 1315 points to win the title and QR6,000 as well. Muhannadi had 1294.5 and his runner-up spot was worth QR30,000.
Third place and QR20,000 went to Ghanim Saad al Naimi, who was leading after five events but could tally only 1249.5 points. Saoud Ali al Adba and Rashid Ahmed al Adba had a close battle for the fourth spot and it was the former who gained 1221 points to win it. Rashid logged 1201 points to round out the top five.
Rashid Saleh Hamad expressed his delight at being the champion of the first event."Everyone was trying to gain the first place. It is a prestigious event as it is under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Joaan. I'm glad that the last event was skeet, which is my favourite," said the former Asia champion and Olympian.
"I'm proud to win the Professional title. It was a well-contested championship. We had a great fun and thrilling atmosphere at the Losail ranges," said the champion.
The amateur category was claimed by Khalifa al Attiyah. His total of 1383.5 fetched him a car and QR6,000. He beat Sheikh Ahmed Abdullah al Thani, who posted 1243.5. The runner-up earned QR30,000. Badr Mubarak al Marri pocketed the third place with 1053 and QR20,000.
Masoud Rashid al Athbi was fourth at 1068.5, while Saleh Ali al Athbi managed 1053.5 to finish in the fifth spot.
Dr. Thani al Kuwari, Secretary-General of the Qatar Olympic Committee, and Sheikh Ali bin Jabor al Thani, Head of Legal Affairs, Ooredoo, Nabil Ali bin Ali (Ali Bin Ali Jewelry and Watches) and Salman Abdul Ghani from Abdullah Abdulghani Brothers also attended the closing ceremony. Qatar Shooter and Archery Association President Ali Mohammed al Kuwari and Majid al Naimi, QSAA Secretary-General, were also present on the occasion.
