The Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani on Wednesday sent a cable of congratulations to HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud on his elevation as Crown Prince and Deputy Premier of Saudi Arabia.
The Emir wished him success towards the good of the kingdom under the wise leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud, and expressed the hope that there would be more development and growth in the deep fraternal ties between the two brotherly countries.
The Emir also sent a cable of congratulations to King Salman on the occasion of naming HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud as Crown Prince and appointing him deputy premier.
The Emir wished the Saudi king health and wellbeing, while further wishing progress and prosperity to the fraternal people of Saudi Arabia under the king's wise leadership, and more development and growth to the deep fraternal ties between the two brotherly countries.
The Deputy Emir HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al Thani and Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al Thani also sent a cable of congratulations to Mohammed bin Salman and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud.
Meanwhile, Former Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef has pledged allegiance to his successor Mohammed bin Salman. A royal decree on Wednesday removed Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, a 57-year-old nephew of the king, as next in line to the throne and replaced him with Mohammed bin Salman, 31, who was previously the deputy crown prince.
Saudi TV channels showed Mohammed bin Salman kissing the hands of his ousted cousin Mohammed bin Nayef and kneeling in front of the older prince, who patted his successor's shoulder to congratulate him."I am going to rest now. May God help you," the former crown prince said, to which his replacement replied:"May God help you. I will never do without your advice."
